NKCF is the biggest political party on Campus housing close to 100 members.

NKCF was the first political society to break the 100 members mark

NKCF has been featured in the National Press

Members of NKCF have proposed many motions to both SRC and UGM in an attempt to benefit student welfare.

These have included:

Smoking Ban Proposals to create a smoke-free area within the union building for all students and adequately prepare for the national smoking ban, introduced in July 2007

Carbon Offsetting- Proposed and succeeded in getting the union to go green by offsetting its carbon emissions in order to do our bit for the environment. This is coupled with continuing efforts to improve the recycling facilities on campus.

Student Choice- Argued against proposals to limit student choice in the union shop, supporting the choice of fair trade and alternatives.

NKCF has provided a strong voice in union politics with many of its members being elected onto the Student Representative Council (SRC) where they represent halls, societies etc

NKCF has held two very successful Summer Balls, one of which raised money for Cancer Research UK

Members of NKCF have raised over £500 for Children In Need in the last 2 years through numerous events such as leg waxing and dying their hair blue for a day! (See Below for proof!)

Senior NKCF members led the campaign for answers to the unfair and unjustified 31.7% pay rise awarded to the VC, while students are left with book shortages and poor-standard accommodation

NKCF has had high profile visits from senior party figures including Boris Johnson MP, Environment Minister Greg Barker MP, Party Chair Caroline Spelman and Conservative Party Leader David Cameron MP.

NKCF has recently set up a local social action group named “Community Forward” which is to take part in local projects to help, and improve the local community.

NKCF members have contributed many letters and articles to the union paper Concourse and Sentinel newspaper on a range of issues from the car parking issue on campus to recycling in Newcastle.

NKCF was the first party to FORMALLY NAME a student candidate to represent Keele Ward at the Local Elections.

In an attempt to give young people a voice on the council.   Several of our members stood as Conservative Candidates in both the 2006 and 2007 Local Borough and Parish Elections.

Thanks to the campaign efforts of NKCF members, the Conservative Party now joint control Newcastle Under-Lyme Borough Council.
